Just Transition Platform conference

Registration is still open for online participation in the sixth edition of the Just Transition Platform Conference, taking place on 24-26 October 2022, including a Coal Regions in Transition Initiative dedicated work stream. In-person registration has, unfortunately, now closed; but, there is still time to sign-up to join the event virtually.

The hybrid conference, organised by DG REGIO and DG ENER, will bring together European decision-makers and representatives from coal, peat, lignite, oil shale, and carbon-intensive regions to discuss progress in just transition and the different European tools available to facilitate this transition towards a carbon-neutral economy. European Commissioners Elisa Ferreira (REGIO) and Kadri Simson (ENER) and leaders from these regions will address, among other things, the implementation of just transition and the Just Transition Fund, current energy price spikes and the resulting risk of energy poverty, as well as solutions to build future-proof economies. Schedule a 30-minute clinic slot to meet bilaterally with senior members of the START team to discuss ideas, needs and queries concerning START technical assistance, and/or to get advice on your application. exchangeEU programme side event

The exchangeEU programme, which facilitates exchange among coal, peat, and oil shale regions in the EU, is hosting an in-person side event on 25 October from 17:40-18:30. Regions are invited to make use of the team’s presence to refine their applications, and/or to make a match with another participating region. Click here to sign up.
