Save the date: Next Just Transition Platform Meeting / Coal Regions in Transition virtual week on 10–12 May

We are pleased to announce that the fifth edition of the Just Transition Platform Meeting (incl. the Coal Regions in Transition virtual week and carbon-intensive regions seminars) will take place on 10–12 May online. This event will be co-hosted by the Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) and the Directorate-General for Energy (DG ENER).

The meeting will

• facilitate exchange and interaction between stakeholders on the journey towards a just transition to a climate-neutral Europe;
• provide an update on the progress of Just Transition Fund programmes and their implementation as well as on the preparation of the Public Sector Loan Facility;
• spotlight the role of youth in the just transition;
• present just transition challenges, solutions and opportunities of coal, peat, oil shale as well as carbon-intensive regions;
• provide updates from the Initiative for Coal Regions in Transition;
• discuss the global dimension of just transition;

and much more.

The meeting will also involve the Multi-Level Dialogue organised by the Committee of Regions, focused on regional cross-border cooperation on just transition. Participating stakeholders will again include representatives of Member States, local and regional authorities, non-governmental organisations, business and social partners, and EU institutions.
