The Batteries European Partnership Association (BEPA) holds its first Statutory General Assembly and elects its leaders

date:  17/12/2020

A new public private partnership dedicated to batteries is being set up under the new EU research Framework programme Horizon Europe. The Batteries European Partnership will gather the European Commission on the public side and all the interested stakeholders of the European battery communityon the private side - regrouped in a dedicated association (the Batteries European Partnership Association – BEPA). Its ambition is to prepare and equip Europe to commercialise next-generation battery technologies by 2030, by pooling Europe’s resources and knowledge in order to accelerate the development, industrialisation and deployment of strategic battery technologies via coordinated investments.

Batteries Europe has been closely involved in the establishment of the Battery Partnership, ensuring clear and consistent communications and alignment between the two fora. While the ETIP has a broad reach and takes a holistic view of the battery value chain, the Battery Partnership has a narrower scope, addressing the most vital core parts of the value chain.

The first General Assembly of BEPA took place on 14 December 2020, and elected 24 members of the private side  delegation of the Batteries European Partnership; nine of them will also have a role of Executive Board members of BEPA. Michael Lippert, Kurt Vandeputte and Simon Perraud, who are key figures of Batteries Europe's Governing Board and Working Groups, were elected respectively Chair, Vice-Chair and Treasurer and Vice-Chair of Research within the BEPA.

A first draft for the Articles of the Association and its Code of Conduct have been published.

As this is an open partnership, new members can still join the association. The application form can be downloaded at this link.

For additional information (e.g. provisional schedule of membership fees), please contact the Partnership Secretariat at secretariat.bepa@clerens.eu.
