New climate adaptation projects launched with Horizon 2020 funding (04/05/2016)
The EU is investing more than €28 million in four new climate adaptation projects through the Horizon 2020 programme. The new projects will test and improve climate adaptation solutions, and develop solutions for protecting cultural heritage sites against natural hazards.
Next call for proposals of the LIFE programme to be launched in May (04/05/2016)
In 2016, there is more than €330 million available in funding through the EU's LIFE programme for the environment and climate action. The European Commission will launch a call for proposals in the second half of May, with deadlines in September 2016.
Blue Growth: New projects to understand and preserve the Atlantic marine ecosystem (04/05/2016)
Two new research projects receive Horizon 2020 funding for studying the functioning of North Atlantic ecosystems. The research will result in strategies for a more sustainable exploitation of the resources whilst preserving the marine ecosystems. The EU provides €19 million in funding.

The European Commission has launched a stakeholder consultation to shape the next Work Programme for Societal Challenge 5. Please share your contributions and ideas by 8 April.
The European Commission has received 333 proposals for projects in the areas of climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials by the call deadline on 8 March. All in all, a budget of about €283 million is available in 2016 for the Societal Challenge "Climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials" of Horizon 2020.
Blue Growth: €7,5 million to boost maritime projects (09/03/2016)
The European Commission will fund projects under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund with calls for proposals on "Blue careers", "Blue labs" and "Blue technology". The calls will be presented during an Information Day in Brussels on 5 April. Registration is open.
Circular Economy: Join the EU delegation to Chile in April (25/04/2016)
The European Commission is organising a delegation to Santiago de Chile on 25-26 April to promote circular economy and green business opportunities. The delegation takes place back-to-back with the XIV. World Mining Exhibition and Congress for Latin America. Business representatives are invited to join the delegation. Please register by 25 March.
Climate adaptation: Learn about Horizon 2020 projects at Adaptation Futures 2016 (10/05/2016)
The 4th International Climate Change Adaptation Conference – Adaptation Futures 2016 – will take place from 10 to 13 May in Rotterdam. Partners of Horizon 2020 climate projects will share their experiences in a number of sessions. In addition, conference participants can learn about the EU's programmes for climate adaptation at the European Commission's booth in the Adaptation Expo.
Join the EU Green Week 2016 on "Investing for a greener future" (30/05/2016)
The 2016 edition of the Green Week will take place from 30 May to 3 June focussing on "investments for a greener future". Each day of the week will highlight a different aspect of this theme – from investments in greener cities to investing for future generations. Get involved, for example, by organising a partner event or an online activity during May and June.
Earth observation: GEO European Projects Workshop 2016 (31/05/2016)
Representatives from science, business and public administration will meet from 31 May to 2 June in Berlin for GEO European Projects Workshop 2016. Now in its 10th edition, the GEO European Projects Workshop 2016 will present and discuss European initiatives contributing to the Global Earth Observations System of Systems (GEOSS). Registration will open in mid-March.
