Colombia Updates Rules for Claiming Color in Trademarks

Decision 122 of 2025 modifies the rules for claiming colour in trademarks in Colombia, simplifying the requirements and reducing the procedures before the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce. As of 7 January 2025, trademark applications must comply with more precise requirements: if color is claimed, all colors present in the trademark must be explicitly specified, avoiding ambiguous terms such as "dark" or "light".

The National Directorate of Intellectual Property of Paraguay (DINAPI) has launched the National Repository of Sound Trademarks, a digital tool that allows users to search and listen to registered sound trademarks.
