The legal dispute between Asian News International (ANI) and OpenAI underscores the complexities of applying India's Copyright Act of 1957 to contemporary AI technologies. In November 2024, ANI filed a lawsuit against OpenAI in the Delhi High Court, alleging that OpenAI's ChatGPT model utilised ANI's copyrighted content without permission for training purposes. OpenAI refutes these allegations, asserting that it employs publicly available data protected under fair use principles and does not specifically use content from Indian media groups for training ChatGPT.

Latvian initiative wins Europe-wide civic engagement prize

LSM+ | 14/03/2025 - The EC announced the winner of the 2024 European Social Innovation Competition (EUSIC), during the European Social Innovation Forum Annual Event – NeSEI, a gathering that fosters innovation and collaboration among European social entrepreneurs and innovators. The winning project is “Cultivating Civic Habits” by Latvia's Sabiedribas Lidzdalibas Fonds (Foundation of Public Participation).

 
Dutch deeptech startups received 956 million euros in funding from RVO

Dutch IT leaders | 13/03/2025 | Netherlands - The majority of the funding, namely 594 million euros, came from the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator programme. In addition, 18 million euros was obtained via the EIC Transition programme. The RVO acts as the national contact point for these European subsidy schemes, which are part of the Horizon Europe programme of the European Commission.

EU ministers call for independent FP10 in Warsaw Declaration
