On 24 April, the EU and Norway established a Green Alliance to strengthen their joint climate action, environmental protection efforts, and cooperation on the clean energy and industrial transition.

The European Commission on 19 April launched a portal to drive forward the EU’s Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change. The Portal provides information about the Mission and latest developments regarding its delivery, including by regional and local authorities that are participating.

Even against the backdrop of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and the ensuing gas price spikes, greenhouse gas emissions covered by the EU’s Emission Trading System (ETS) only rose very slightly last year.

On 6 May, the EU Ecolabel showroom on wheel will ride to the European Commission Open Day. It will display a selection of the over 88 000 products that have been certified with the EU label for environmental excellence. The EU Ecolabel contributes to circular economy and zero pollution and empowers consumers to take an active part in the green transition.

The LIFE Call for proposals 2023 were published on the Funding & tender opportunities portal on 18 April. The calls for Clean energy transition are expected to be published on 11 May.

On 30 March 2023, the European Commission launched the Innovation Fund third small-scale call for projects, with a total budget of EUR 100 million.
