Collecting real-world data on the CO2 emissions and fuel consumption of new cars and vans
The real-world fuel and energy consumption of new cars and vans will be collected as of 2021 under a new Implementing Regulation adopted by the Commission yesterday. This data will make it possible to monitor the gap between type approval and actual CO2 emissions, and will provide a better understanding of how vehicles perform under real-world driving conditions.

Under the banner of ‘Keeping healthy in a changing climate’, the European Commission and European Environment Agency (EEA) are launching the European Climate and Health Observatory this Thursday 4 March 2021 from 14:00-16:00 CET. As well as presenting the observatory’s goals and the tools it will use, the event will stimulate discussion on the connections between climate change and health. High-level speakers from the Commission and the EEA will be present for the launch, which will also feature an interactive panel discussion with experts from observatory partner organisations and user groups.

Commission publishes contributions to public consultations on EU climate legislation
The European Commission today published the contributions received to four open public consultations on forthcoming revisions of EU law to align it with the new 2030 target to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% compared to 1990 levels.
