CEF Digital | New Building Blocks Launch Event | After movie

date:  10/12/2018

On Friday 7 December 2018, stakeholders from the public and private sectors gathered for the launch event of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) three new Building Blocks, Big Data Test Infrastructure (BDTI), Context Broker and eArchiving, in Brussels, Belgium.

This event was a milestone for CEF, having worked on the launch in the past months, the entire team and external partners were proud to present the three new Building Blocks to the 120 attendees. This event showed concrete examples of how they contribute to CEF's mission to help public services develop digital services, thereby realising the Digital Single Market.

Learn more about each Building Block in the below video's:

  • CEF BDTI, supports public administrations in their quest to turn data into actionable insights
  • CEF Context Broker, centralizes and provides context to data coming from a wide variety of sources
  • CEF eArchiving, enables secure preservation, description and transmission of digital data

The three new CEF Building Blocks will help European public services to manage, contextualise and store their data, thereby helping them to digitalise their public services. This event underlined the Commission's commitment to help public services digitalise and hearing testimonials from attendees on why and how CEF services help and enable public services save money highlighted the positive impact of the Building Blocks.

This event simultaneously gave an update on the development and implementation status of the established Building Blocks. Hearing updates and best practices from the established Building Blocks presented the road that still lies ahead of the new Building Block, as Kelly Liljemo, CEF Project Officer, DG DIGIT, European Commission, also pointed out in her closing remarks:

“Today we welcomed three new CEF Building Blocks but the journey doesn’t end here. We have created a playing field to make the Digital Single Market a reality. We have to continue shaping and creating Europe’s digital future.”
