IPv6 is the latest version of the Internet’s main communication protocol, simply referred to as Internet Protocol (IP).
IPv6 ensures the scalability, stability, and security of the Internet. It is used by Internet hosts for addressing, routing data packets from their source to their destination, and internetworking. The deployment of this new version is increasingly urgent, as traditional IPv4 addresses have been long depleted and we are currently having to use costly work-arounds to keep the Internet working.
IPv6 deployment in the EU is slowly increasing. The situation varies quite significantly among EU Member States, with some better positioned than others.
