What is the innovation

A novel mHealth self-management system to manage and support the asthma chronic disease through a personalized response to treatment and progress, by empowering the patient as an active participant in his/her disease management. The system focuses on a) monitoring patients' adherence to medical treatment (recognises treatment scheme, reminds patients to take medication), b) device training and guidance support through each step of inhalation therapy and c) prediction support on how to manage and reduce the risk for asthma disease exacerbations.

Out of the lab. Into the market

myAirCoach’s Self-management Platform for chronic diseases is currently at the final prototype stage before commercialisation, which is planned to be achieved via different vehicles such as the established company of CERTH/ITI (MindMed) but also upon specific investments to attract additional funding. The platform has already been extended to manage other diseases (e.g. diabetes). Capitalization of this technology is feasible by healthcare professionals, which could use myAirCoach in near future to supervise the condition of patients and provide personalized treatment.

Benefits of participation in the Framework Programme

Participation in H2020 myAircoach provided the opportunity to develop innovative m-Health integrated services for respiratory patients, as an important step of addressing our strategic goal of personalized ICT-based healthcare treatment. In this context, H2020 funding encouraged us to move our idea from the lab to the market, thus achieving another major goal of our team. Furthermore, establishment of synergies in the respective research fields and co-creation of solutions with end-users have been valuable for a long-term development in e-Health.
