Fostering social cohesion and managing cultural diversity through community intervention at local level

In Spain, for more than 7 years now it's being implemented a highly successful broad project aimed to improving social cohesion, living together and integration of culturally diverse groups in 36 territories through an innovative methodology based on a community intervention approach.

This project is being developed jointly by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and "la Caixa" Foundation.

Dear Francis,

I'm sorry to hear that. It's indeed a pity to know that they don't take into consideration the English speaking community living in that area. I guess they have a very limited budget to translate those documents into other languages than Spanish and Catalan.

Perhaps in the future, when Spain will get out of the EU and international financial organisms austerity impossed measures and will be able to spend the budget in really necessary issues other than saving banks, they could take into consideration English speaking population living in touristic areas of Spain and could address some budget to translate key documents into other languages than Spanish and Catalan.

As a englishman living in Spain, Altea, Valencian community and an ardent european i welcome such initiatives to promote integration and social cohesion. I am by definition an EU migrant with sadly poor language skills. I was disappointed to learn that the GVA Valencian government have only published their VPICS plan for integration and social cohesion in catalan and spanish. I asked the responsible person within the government if it could be published in english but she replied "these are the two official languages of Valencia" ! clearly she and the GVA are 'irony impaired'.
