Piloting the Ethics Guidelines for Trustworthy AI: Best Practices
The Ethics Guidelines were presented by the High-Level Expert Group on AI (AI HLEG) as a response to the European Commission’s call for guidance on the implementation of ethical principles when developing and deploying AI. The document, initially presented in December 2018, went through an open consultation that shaped its current content in accordance with the input given by the members of the European AI Alliance and other interested stakeholders.
Based on fundamental rights and ethical principles, the updated Guidelines list 7 Key Requirements that AI systems should meet in order to be Trustworthy and provide an Assessment List to guide the implementation of these requirements in practice.
The current Piloting Process aims to collect practical feedback on the implementation of the Assessment List by entities willing to put Trustworthy AI into practice.
At the current stage of the Piloting, you can provide your feedback in one of the following ways:
1. Participate in the Piloting Survey, aimed at collecting feedback on the operability and potential improvement of the Assessment List’s distinct sections. You can participate in the survey either in the capacity of an AI Developer/ or that of another Active Stakeholder.

2. Share your Best practices on Trustworthy AI: How do you see the implementation of the 7 Key Requirements in your field of application? What amendments would you propose to the Assessment List? Do you already have any best practice in place to ensure that your system meets the requirements for Trustworthy AI or similar ethics screening, or do you wish to discuss implementation methods with other experienced stakeholders?
