The Twinning Regions Programme (TWRP) aims to help European regions and their actors tackle the challenge of food losses detection, quantification and reporting through tailored support, practical tools and expertise. With about 100 registrants, the session saw active engagement from attendees, reflecting significant interest in FOLOU’s mission to support these regions in reducing food losses in primary production.

By partnering with at least five regions, FOLOU will work with stakeholders to better understand, quantify and manage food losses, fostering more sustainable regional food systems. Key aspects of the Twinning Regions Programme include:

  • Quantifying Food Losses
  • Access to Innovations
  • Food Loss Reporting
  • Sustainability Tool
  • Certified Training
Running from 2025 to 2026, the Twinning Regions Programme aligns with Europe’s climate and sustainability goals, offering regions the resources and knowledge to lead food loss reduction efforts.

Regional authorities, food clusters, research institutions, and farmer organisations are encouraged to join the TWRP, which provides tailored support and resources to build sustainable food loss prevention practices. For those interested in joining the programme, submit the registration form and an introductory meeting will be arranged to discuss the potential for your region.
