In addition to identifying the quantities, critical loss points and technical and socio-economic causes of food loss and waste, the project team explored and analysed the behaviours of food value chain actors, from producers to retailers, that have an impact on experienced losses. The behaviour mapping, including barriers to and levers of a desired behaviour change, informed the solutions design targeting specific behaviours. The project team then applied the Ex-Ante Carbon-balance Tool for Value Chains (ExACT-VC) to assess the cost, the food loss and waste reduction potential, and the climate impact of different solutions.

The webinar offered an overview of the approach to the analysis, the findings, potential of the application, and lessons learnt along the process.
