Non-accessible content
Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of the ESGAB website, we are aware of some limitations, which we are working to fix. Below is a description of known limitations and potential solutions. Please contact us if you encounter an issue not listed below.
Known limitations for the ESGAB website:
- Page does not adapt to small screens: When the viewport is reduced to 320 CSS pixels in width, horizontal scrolling is required to navigate the website. We will fix this by 2026.
- Links without text or accessible names: Some pages include links without visible text or accessible names. We will fix during during 2025.
- Inaccessible PDF documents: Certain PDFs lack proper tagging for accessibility, while others have the wrong language set in their properties (e.g., French for English documents). This will only be fixed for newer documents starting from 2025.
- Missing document title in PDFs: Many PDF documents do not include a title in their properties.
- Images with inappropriate alt text: Some images use a generic description as alternative text, which does not provide meaningful information for visually impaired users.
- Low text contrast: On some pages, the text has insufficient contrast with the background.
- Improperly formatted lists: Some lists on the website do not follow proper semantic and accessibility guidelines, potentially causing issues for assistive technologies.
- Improper use of accessibility attributes: Certain accessibility attributes, such as aria-label, are not implemented in alignment with best practices, which may hinder their effectiveness for assistive technologies.
- Repeated link names: Some links on the website use non-unique or non-descriptive names, making it difficult for users to differentiate or understand their purpose.
