On the 18th of June 2010, Georges Bizet's opera Carmen was broadcasted simultaneously in around 40 European cities.
Mr Barroso, President of the European Commission addressed a video message to all participants highlighting the importance of this cultural experience in reinforcing the links between European citizens. He also thanked the organiser, la Generalidad Valenciana for having placed this event in the framework of the European Year 2010 for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion.
