DomiSMP 5.1.1 released: upgrade now for latest dependency updates

DomiSMP 5.1.1 is now available for download as of 23 May 2025. This maintenance release of the European Commission's sample implementation of an eDelivery Service Metadata Publisher (SMP) comes with updates of third-party dependencies to their latest minor versions published since the DomiSMP 5.1 release in October 2024.

This version is part of our ongoing effort to ensure DomiSMP remains secure, reliable and compliant with best practices for open-source components.

Upgrading to DomiSMP 5.1.1 ensures that your eDelivery infrastructure benefits from the latest dependency updates, reducing the risk of vulnerabilities and improving long-term stability. We strongly recommend all users of DomiSMP 5.1 to apply this maintenance update to maintain a secure and supported deployment.

Looking ahead

DomiSMP 5.2, planned for November 2025, will require Java 21 and Tomcat 10.1 as the only supported runtime, marking the end of support for older Java versions, including Java 11. This transition is part of the broader move to align with modern Java and Jakarta EE standards.

Organisations currently using WebLogic 12cR2 or 14c should plan to remain on DomiSMP 5.1.x, which will continue to receive security and maintenance updates, until the release of WebLogic Server 15.1.1 and, subsequently, a compatible version of DomiSMP.

DomiSMP 5.1.x will be maintained until a version of WebLogic supporting Jakarta EE 10 is available. Oracle has announced that support will be introduced with WebLogic Server 15.1.1, scheduled for release in calendar year 2025. Support for DomiSMP 5.1.x will also continue for at least three months after the release of a future DomiSMP version that includes WebLogic compatibility.
