Cost-estimation tool

💡 A new, simplified eDelivery cost-estimation tool is now available.

It is designed to give network managers and AS4 AP operators a quick, realistic indication of the costs involved in implementing and operating an eDelivery network.

The tool comes pre-filled with cost items and default values that the eDelivery team considers typical for an implementation, based on experience and common practices. You can edit all values, add your own cost items and adjust the assumptions to reflect your specific case.

For the fastest estimate, simply go to the Cost parameters tab and fill in:

  • Your person-day rate
  • Whether you plan to use dynamic discovery
  • The number of Access Points

Then check the Summary tab to see a 5-year cost projection for your network.

About the service

The eDelivery cost-estimation tool focuses on the costs directly related to using eDelivery, without requiring you to compare against an alternative solution.

It helps you distinguish between:

  • One-off setup costs (implementation, onboarding, installation)
  • Yearly recurring costs (operations, maintenance, support)

Costs are calculated separately for two main roles:

  • Network manager – the domain owner who manages the network
  • AS4 AP operator – an actor connecting to the eDelivery network and operating an Access Point

If the network manager also operates an Access Point, the tool provides a combined total for this scenario.

Users of the service

  • Service providers: to assess and quantify the expected financial benefits of reusing eDelivery, for themselves and their message exchange participants.
  • Software providers: to offer the tool to their customers for the financial benefit assessment of the reuse of the software providers’ eDelivery solutions.

  • Estimate costs by role and by phase (setup vs operations).

  • Present clear, transparent numbers to stakeholders.

  • Assess the impact of scaling (for example, adding more AS4 Access Points).

  • Explore dynamic cost projections over a 5-year period.
