eDelivery: Paving the Way for the Once-Only Technical System

The Once-Only Technical System (OOTS) Projectathon, held in Brussels from 18 to 20 October 2023, marked a significant milestone in the journey towards cross-border data integration. This event brought together teams from various EU countries to boost interoperability and test compliance. In this article, we will explore the role of the eDelivery team in supporting this initiative and the progress made by Member States in implementing the Once-Only Technical System.

eDelivery provides the infrastructure for data exchange

eDelivery is a crucial part of the OOTS secure data exchange architecture. The eDelivery team took part in the Projectathon to support Member States' engineers connect their systems and exchange information. How do they do this? By assissting them to install and configure eDelivery Access Points that allow for secure and hassle-free data exchange.

While the eDelivery team has been actively involved in previous Projectathons, the October 2023 Projectathon had a specific focus on the readiness and effectiveness of the Once-Only Technical System, including the eDelivery Access Points.

At the Projectathon tests, the eDelivery Access Points proved their reliability, ensuring that messages flowed seamlessly. Tests were executed by participating Member States whose teams made the Once-Only Technical System work well in a test environment. This accomplishment highlights the dedication of the Member States’ technical teams, the maturity of the eDelivery solution and the great support provided by the eDelivery team. Lastly, this success demonstrates how eDelivery contributes to interoperability in Europe by ensuring data flows smoothly and securely within and between Member States

We are excited to see this progress and to support the OOTS Projectathons. With each Projectathon, we are one step closer toward efficient and secure data sharing between EU public authorities.

What are the OOTS Projectathons?

The Once-Only Technical System will connect public authorities across the EU, so they can securely exchange official documents and data at a citizen's or business’ request. This will make life easier for EU citizens who study, work, or move to another EU country.

OOTS Projectathons are collaborative events where teams from EU member states gather to develop and interconnect their systems, conduct interoperability tests, and evaluate compliance in a structured environment. The most recent Projectathon was the third one of the series: it served as a genuine test of the systems and infrastructure required to transform the Once-Only Technical System into a reality.
