OOTS Implementers take stock of Once-Only ‘Preview Space’ and successful April 2023 Projectathon

11 May 2023 | 4 minutes read

On 5 May 2023, teams from EU Member States implementing the Once-Only Technical System (OOTS) attended the fifth OOTS Implementers’ Café. These online events allow OOTS implementers to regularly connect and discuss topics relevant to the Once-Only Technical System.

The fifth instalment focused on the topic of the Once-Only Preview Space and analysing the results of the April 2023 Projectathon. This online event also welcomed a guest contribution from the DE4A Project on multilingual ontologies.

The Once-Only Technical System connects EU public authorities, so they can exchange official documents and data (known as evidences) at the citizen’s request. As explicitly outlined in the Once-Only Implementing Regulation ((EU) 2022/1463), exchanging such evidences through Once-Only Technical System is a voluntary process. The user should remain free to submit evidence by other means outside the technical system and, crucially, the user should have the possibility to preview the evidence and the right to choose not to proceed with the exchange of evidence in cases where the user, after clearly previewing the evidence to be exchanged, so desires. Nils McGrath, from DIGIT in the European Commission, presented an overview of the Once-Only Preview Space.

This OOT Implementers’ Café welcomed presentations from two Member States: Italy and Sweden. Alessandra Pieroni (Agency for Digital Italy - AgID) and Martina Mina (Accenture) presented a demo of the Italian Once-Only Preview Space. Staffan Bornehäger (Agency for Digital Government, DIGG) presented the work undertaken in Sweden in this regard.

As in previous Implementers’ Cafés, the second half of the event looked at the 2023 OOTS Projectathon series. These peer-to-peer interoperability and compliance testing marathons provide a unique and valuable opportunity for OOTS Implementers to test their respective national Once-Only implementations in a secure environment, in the presence of expert technical support provided by the Commission.

In addition, Ana Rosa Guzmán from the Spanish Secretariat-General for Digital Administration presented on the DE4A Projects deliverables on Multilingual Ontology Repository and User Interface.
