Statement by Commissioner Füle after meeting Mr Ghimpu, Acting President of the Republic of Moldova
Mr Ghimpu, Acting President of the Republic of Moldova, and Commissioner Füle met this morning. In the course of the meeting, they had an extensive exchange of views on the internal situation in the Republic of Moldova, in particular the issue of constitutional reform.
Commissioner Füle said: "The European Commission stands by the Republic of
Moldova, and I have confirmed our full commitment to helping Moldova tackle the
consequences of the global economic crisis. I have also underlined the
importance of following the recommendations of the Venice Commission in the
context of EU-Moldova relations."
