Launch of public consultation on the review of the European Disability Strategy

The European Commission is launching a public consultation today on the mid-term review of the European Disability Strategy (2010-2020).

Part of the cover of the European Disability Strategy 2010-2020 publication, with the slogan 'People with disabilities have equal rights'

This Strategy provides a roadmap for the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, to which the European Union is a party.

It has identified eight main areas for action at EU level:

  • accessibility,
  • participation,
  • equality,
  • employment,
  • education and training,
  • social protection,
  • health
  • external action

This public consultation asks for

  • your opinion on what has been achieved so far in each of these areas,
  • your views on the challenges faced by all persons with disabilities,
  • how the EU should address these challenges.

We appreciate all replies from citizens, organisations, public authorities, businesses, academics and other stakeholders.

You have time to submit your contribution until 18 March 2016.

The survey is available in all official languages of the EU, except Irish.
