In Europe, the food and drinks industry employs around 4.2 million people and includes over 300,000 businesses. The annual turnover is more than €950 billion. A major challenge to the sector is the need to increase the attractiveness of the European agro-food industry. This will require the development of a new skills and qualifications framework.
