Finnish grandma Eila Nevanranta launches her debut rap album at age 76
Eila Nevanranta is an ordinary 76-year-old Finnish grandmother who one summer evening a couple of years ago decided to write a rap song. Now she is one of the stars of independent music label Stupido and her videos are a worldwide online hit.

Estonian 83-year old surgeon Bruno Põder receives the European Year 2012 Life Story Challenge Award
Estonian 83-year old doctor Bruno Põder received on November 13th the European Year 2012 Award in the category of “Life story challenge”. The recognition to his lifetime achievements was handed to the retired surgeon and his daughter, who submitted his candidacy to the competition, by László Andor, European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, at a ceremony which took place in Brussels.

Successful closing conference of the European Year in France brings together nearly 200 people
The closing conference of the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations in France that took place on 17-18 December at the Palais des Congrès in Paris was a great success. The event brought together nearly 200 people during a day and a half.

Lithuania celebrates the end of the European Year 2012 reminding that it is crucial to support initiatives in the field of active ageing
The National Closing Conference of the European Year 2012 in Lithuania took place in Vilnius on December 17th, organised by the Ministry of Social Security and Labour. The Director of Family and Communities Department of the Ministry, Jolanta Zabietienė, opened the event welcoming participants and inviting them to participate and interact in the scheduled debate about solidarity and interrelations between generations.
