Are we richer or poorer than before the onset of the crisis?
The global financial crisis triggered a deep recession in 2008 and 2009, the deepest since the Great Recession of the early 1930s. In 2009, the EU's GDP dropped by 4.4%, and in 2014 it barely exceeded the level of 2008.

Disabilities: Access City Award 2016 for accessible-friendly cities goes to Milan!
On the occasion of the European Day for People with Disabilities, the European Commission is pleased to announce that Milan (Italy) is the winner of the 2016 Access City Award. Wiesbaden (Germany), Toulouse (France), Vaasa (Finland) and Kaposvár (Hungary) were also awarded for their efforts to improve accessibility for people with disabilities and the elderly.

Expanding business start-up support for disadvantaged groups can tackle unemployment and social exclusion, report said
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and European Commission have published The Missing Entrepreneurs 2015, which examines the potential of inclusive entrepreneurship policies and programmes in the European Union. Target groups are those who are under-represented and disadvantaged in entrepreneurship and self-employment, including youth, women, seniors, the unemployed, ethnic minorities and immigrants, people with disabilities and other groups.

Demographics and the economy: how a declining working-age population may change Europe's growth prospects
According to Eurostat's demographic projections, Europe's working age population (aged between 20 and 64 years) will be declining by 0.4% every year between now and 2040, a decline that has already started in 2010. This will have major implications for the EU's growth potential in the long run.
