European Commission rewards British city Chester for enhancing accessibility in its city life
The European Commission today announced the British city of Chester as the winner of the Access City Award. Chester was chosen out of 43 cities from 21 EU countries, because of its inclusive measures for people with a disability in different sectors, in particular the tourism sector.

Commission proposes €1.8 million from Globalisation Fund to help 800 Dutch former retail workers
Today the European Commission made a proposal to allocate €1.8 million from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) to the Dutch regions of Drenthe and Overijssel. This would support 800 former retail workers in finding new jobs

Commission proposes 856,800 euros from Globalisation Fund to help former car workers in Spain
The European Commission has proposed to provide Spain with €856,800 from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) to help 250 former car workers in the Spanish community Comunidad Valenciana (Spain) to find new jobs.

3rd FEAD Network Meeting: Synergies between ESF and FEAD
Members of the FEAD Network came together in Brussels on 7 November to discuss synergies between the European Social Fund (ESF) and the Fund for European Aid for the Most Deprived (FEAD). One hundred Network members gathered to meet and learn from other organisations how FEAD and ESF operations can be structured to complement each other.

Over 100 agreements signed with microfinance providers since start of EU microfinance initiatives
More than EUR 1 billion has been mobilised to support over 100,000 micro-entrepreneurs in 23 EU member states under the Progress Microfinance and the Employment and Social Innovation (EaSI) programmes.

1st and 2nd FEAD Network Meeting: Delivering accompanying and social inclusion measures
The first two FEAD Network meetings have been held in Brussels on 26 September and 18 October. The events allowed delegates to hear from projects and managing authorities in different countries, and to discuss innovative ways of delivering accompanying and social inclusion measures.
