Social protection developments in Germany, Portugal, Switzerland and Estonia
Four new Flash Reports prepared by the European Social policy Network (ESPN) are now available and provide information on the general statutory minimum wage in Germany, the extension of payment exemption for health user charges in Portugal, the creation of national programmes to tackle important problems related to infectious diseases in Switzerland and annual in-work benefit for low-income workers in Estonia.

Almost 30 000 workers supported by the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund during 2013 and 2014
During 2013-14, the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) helped a total of 27 610 workers, who had been dismissed due to the economic crisis and the effects of globalisation, to find new job opportunities.

Commission proposes €6.2 million from Globalisation Fund for former workers of the car manufacturer Ford in Belgium
The European Commission has proposed to provide Belgium with € 6.2 million from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) to help 4,500 workers made redundant in Belgium by Ford — and eleven of its suppliers and downstream producers — back into employment.

The European Commission has proposed to provide Germany with € 6.9 million from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) to help 2,692 former workers of Adam Opel AG and one of its suppliers to find new jobs.
