Seniorforce Days in Estonia and The Netherlands to highlight the importance of volunteering at an old age
The Seniorforce Day in Estonia took place on October 5 at the Senior Festival in Tallinn, a two-day event which this year received more than 3,400 visitors. The festival was inaugurated by the Minister of Social Affairs, Hanno Pevkur, who invited citizens to “enjoy this great venture, which is also a part of active ageing”.

The pan-European project HELP (Home-based Empowered Living for Parkinson Disease Patients) is the winner of the AAL FORUM Award, announced in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, on September 26th at the AAL Joint Programme Forum 2012.

Belgian photographer portrays seniors in the skin of a child
Delphine Lebon is a young Belgian photographer whose work arises from the exploration of removing boundaries between reality and the sense of delusion. Her new project entitled "Growing Young" illustrates the relationship between old age and becoming young again.

Successful events in Slovenia and Cyprus to celebrate the European Seniorforce Day
The European Seniorforce Day in Slovenia took place on October 3 in Ljubljana, within the 12th Festival of the Third Age, the largest event for the elderly in the country. The event, which is annually visited by thousands of citizens, included this year three special activities designed to promote and stimulate volunteering among the elderly people.

Intergenerational Video Competition winner announced in Ireland
A video submitted by Marius Rados on behalf of Dublin-based community organisation CareLocal is the winner of the Intergenerational Video Competition launched in Ireland by the Centre for Ageing Research and Development (CARDI) and Age & Opportunity, in partnership with The Office for Older People, Department of Health, to celebrate the European Year 2012.

Seniorforce events in Germany, Italy and Latvia to mark October 1 and honour elderly volunteers
The seminar “Learning for a long life and the image of age”, held on October 1 in Stuttgart, was the frame to celebrate the Seniorforce Day in Germany, an event promoted by the European Commission in the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations to encourage senior volunteering.

Several countries celebrated on October 1 a Seniorforce Day, an event promoted by the European Commission in the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations to mobilise people 60+ and harness the power of senior volunteers.
