Ukraine: Cohesion funding to support people fleeing Russia's invasion of Ukraine
The European Commission has adopted a proposal for Cohesion's Action for Refugees in Europe (CARE) allowing Member States and regions to provide emergency support to people fleeing from Russia's invasion of Ukraine. CARE is introducing the necessary flexibility to allow a swift reallocation of available European funding to such emergency support.

Commission launches call for evidence on minimum income
The European Commission has just published a call for evidence in the context of the preparation of the proposal for a Council Recommendation on adequate minimum income in the EU. All stakeholders can participate and send contributions until 1 April 2022.

Commissioner Schmit visits award-winning centre for early school leavers in Ireland
Nicolas Schmit, Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, visited the Youthreach Clondakin centre near Dublin. Co-funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), the center has a long standing reputation for helping young people aged 15-20 who left school early to bounce back – and take their first successful steps toward employment. The success of Youthreach scheme, and its outreach to 14 000 young people during the ESF (2014-2020) operating period, will be continued through funding from the new ESF+ (2021-2027).

Commission and French Presidency join forces to fight against homelessness
Nicolas Schmit, Commissioner for Employment and Social Rights, and Emmanuelle Wargon, French Minister for Housing, met the ministers responsible for combating homelessness, as well as representatives of the European institutions, local and regional authorities, social partners and civil society to give new impetus to the fight against homelessness.

ESF+: Euronews illustrates European funds contribution to the inclusion of people with disabilities
In its latest episode Euronews Real Economy magazine travels to Spain, a country that has seen the number of persons with disabilities in the job market rise by more than 20 percent over the past six years. The episode shows how in 2021 the ONCE Foundation’s 'Digital Talent' programme, funded by the European Social Fund, allowed 5000 young people with disabilities to learn new skills.

FEAD project in Sweden helps improve health conditions of people living on the streets
The “Pentru Tine - För Dig” (For you) project - supported by the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived - gives marginalized people vital information and support they need to find their way out from material deprivation and social isolation. With the involvement of the local City Missions, “Pentru Tine/För Dig” reached out to 1 600 people across the four Swedish cities of Stockholm, Uppsala, Linköping, and Eskilstuna.
