Social Situation Report 2007 – Social cohesion through equal opportunities

The 2007 Social Situation Report looks at income inequality and how this is related to economic performance and at how people on low incomes are distributed across the EU.

The report also tries to identify the largest groups at risk of poverty in the different Member States and the extent to which low incomes are linked to access to various essential goods and services. In view of the theme of the 2007 European Year, the Report also has a special focus on equal opportunities. Two sections look notably at the transmission of social disadvantages from one generation to the next and at poverty risks among children from a migration background and ethnic minorities.
