EAfA podcast: Improving the overall image and attractiveness of apprenticeships

In the second episode of the EAfA podcast, we invited Markus Wright from the European Apprentices Network to discuss how we can improve the overall image and attractiveness of apprenticeships across Europe. We also gathered the view of some of the apprentices present at our high-level event in Barcelona.

Apprenticeships have an important role to play as a career pathway, especially for young people. They add a practical dimension to the learning process and offer a clear and easy route to the labour market.

Despite their benefits, in many countries general education pathways are often preferred to apprenticeships. This is why one of EAfA’s objectives is to improve the image of apprenticeships − not just in the eyes of young people, but also their families and other key players like teachers, career advisers and employers.

In our second podcast episode, we focus on what can be done to improve the image of apprenticeships. In addition, we discuss targeted measures such as information dissemination, promotional activities, and role models to raise awareness of the benefits of apprenticeships.

You can listen to the episode on EAfA’s channel on Soundcloud, YouTube and Spotify.
