Webinar on PES support to young jobseekers in the recovery period

This PES Network webinar focused on PES experiences in supporting young jobseekers, who are among the groups most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This latest in a series of PES Network webinars exploring PES responses to the COVID-19 crisis attracted a record-breaking 400+ participants from across Europe and further afield.

Presentations included:

  • A graduate tracking initiative aimed at enabling young people to make informed career choices, by the Dutch PES (UWV);
  • Various local initiatives deployed in Hertogenbosch to support the integration of vulnerable young people in the labour market, by the association ‘WeenerXL’;
  • A national initiative offering training, career guidance and other forms of support to help young people find employment, by the French PES (Pôle Emploi).

The webinar also heard observations from jobseeker and employer perspectives from:

  • Representatives of the European Youth Forum – including a recent young jobseeker from Spain – on the challenges facing young people in the early phases of their career; and
  • A representative of Business Europe, looking at issues of uncertainty and challenges posed by rapidly changing labour markets.
