Apply now! Three new calls for support services under the Just Transition Platform

The Just Transition Platform (JTP) has launched three calls for applications for new editions of support services provided under the Platform.

The three new calls are as follows:

  • JTP Groundwork – open until 1 March 23:00 CET. Apply here!
  • JTPeers Exchange – open until 1 March 23:00 CET. Apply for individual or joint applications!
  • JTP Working Groups – open until 1 March 23:00 CET. Apply here!
  • These three support streams aim to build capacity, share best practices, develop solutions and provide hands-on expert support for Just Transition Fund (JTF) regions in the implementation of their Territorial Just Transition Plans (TJTPs).

JTP continues expanding support to JTF regions

After entering the implementation phase of the JTF, the JTP rolled out a number of support streams in 2023, including the JTP Knowledge Hub providing knowledge products and case studies on just transition, the JTPeers Exchange programme, the JTPeers Experts database, and JTP Groundwork.

We are pleased to now announce that these support streams will be continued and expanded between 2024 and 2026. The Working Groups under the JTP are also being relaunched for the period 2024-2026 with an updated structure.

JTP Groundwork technical assistance – co-creative advisory support

JTP Groundwork is a comprehensive technical assistance programme, delivering tailored and needs-oriented capacity building and advisory support to JTF regions. It aims to support regions in implementing the commitments and priorities of their own TJTPs.

JTP Groundwork exclusively targets EU regions with approved TJTPs, specifically municipalities, regional authorities, civil society, and socio-economic partners, as well as Managing Authorities actively contributing to the just transition process at regional, local, or community levels.

Apply for JTP Groundwork via EUSurvey by 1 March 2024, 23:00 CET.

Please refer to the webpage of the call to read more about the types of support provided, frequently asked questions, and a more detailed description of the support provided to applicants. You may also contact us directly at: JTPgroundwork@justtransitionplatform.eu

JTPeers Exchange – facilitated peer-to-peer exchange programme

After successfully facilitating seven exchanges in 2023, this peer-to-peer programme continues to organise and implement in-person and online exchanges between different JTF territories’ practitioners and JTPeers Experts listed on the database.

Within the exchanges (some fully virtual, others designed as in-person visits), selected JTF regional stakeholders will explore mutually experienced challenges and draw upon their own lessons learned and knowledge to collectively identify potential solutions and pathways forward.

Apply for JTPeers Exchange via EUSurvey for individual or joint applications by 1 March, 23:00 CET.

Please refer to the webpage of the call for more information about the JTPeers Exchange application process or the frequently asked questions. You may also contact us directly at: JTPeers@justtransitionplatform.eu

    New Working Groups: Apply now!

The new JTP Working Groups will bring together stakeholders from across Europe with a common concern for the people and places affected by the transition to a climate-neutral economy.

The JTP Working Groups will continue to provide a forum for strategic exchange on challenges shared by stakeholders involved in the transition process in coal and carbon-intensive regions, focusing, among others, on stakeholder engagement and equal opportunities, and will develop practical solutions and tools to tackle local challenges and mitigate the adverse effects of the transition process.

Two new JTP Working Groups will be established, focusing on Stakeholder Engagement (cross-sectoral) and Equal Opportunities.

Apply via this form by 1 March, 23:00 CET.

Please refer to the webpage of the call for more information about the Working Groups, the Guidance document, the Working Groups’ Terms of Reference and the application form itself. You may contact us also directly at workinggroups@justtransitionplatform.eu.

New! JTP Lab for Open Calls offers support to applicants

Looking for advice on your application?

As a new initiative this year, the JTP team offers an application advisory facility, called JTP Lab for Open Calls, to support applicants during the application process. It is free of charge.

This support entails two dedicated training sessions, providing guidance on identifying needs for applying for open calls and submitting a high-quality application, as well as two blocks of office hours, to enable the interaction of interested regions with technical assistance experts, exchange facilitators, and Working Group facilitators.

    Dates for the training sessions:

    • 8 February 2024, 14:30-16:00 (Zoom link): Identifying your concrete needs for JTP Groundwork – short introduction to JTP Groundwork and the type of support provided; expert input on how to identify a concrete need where technical assistance can add value. The training session includes up to 1 hour of Q&A with breakout-rooms and will provide an opportunity to ask questions about the additional active calls for JTPeers Exchange and Working Groups.
    • 27 February 2024, 14:30-16:00 (Zoom link): Submitting a thorough application – expert input on finalising applications, address aspects such as ensuring political buy-in, involving stakeholders, specifying added value. The training session includes up to 1 hour of Q&A with breakout-rooms and will provide an opportunity to ask questions about the additional active calls for JTPeers Exchange and Working Groups.

    Dates for the office hours:

These office hours will be an opportunity for interested applicants to ask specific questions on the application and JTP Groundwork. The calls will include breakout-room sessions with dedicated technical assistance experts and provide an opportunity to ask questions about the additional active calls for JTPeers Exchange and Working Groups.
