The extension of the Aviation Academy Austria training centre in Neusiedl am See through the purchase of a new flight simulator will provide more training opportunities for people interested in careers as airline pilots. In this way, the Academy is supporting both innovation, research and technological development, and social inclusion, jobs, education and training.

The new simulator gives Aviation Academy Austria the opportunity to enlarge its service range for business aviation customers. Pilots may be trained in our facilities to earn a type rating for the Cessna Citation Excel/XLS/XLS+ aircraft and will furthermore make their check flights on the simulator.
The new simulator, the second of its kind installed at the centre, is well fitted to the needs of the aviation industry. The Academy now has a sizeable fleet of the latest flight simulation models, some of which are adapted for more basic learning, while others are used in the later stages of pilot training courses. In addition, all of the Academy's simulators are equipped with state-of-the-art avionics, and its full flight simulators are certified according to JAR-FSTD 1A Level D, the highest certification level.
The extension is part of the Academy's overall business strategy which is aimed at developing the centre as an independent training provider offering students optimal training conditions, so as to create a basis for successful professional integration. At the same time, the Academy seeks to ensure a comfortable learning environment in which trainees can concentrate on their goals. It also has a strong international outlook, with students from a number of different countries, and endeavours to take full account of cultural diversity.
Pilot training geared towards employment
In the long term, the Academy's main goal is to ensure that its students find employment as pilots after completion of their training. For this reason, the courses are geared towards the key skill areas of airline pilots, and special emphasis is placed on the development of interpersonal skills.
The Academy is looking to expand its airline client base, which is currently largely composed of regional airlines, by attracting new customers in the executive and business aviation fields, so as to increase job opportunities for its trainees. Furthermore, by providing optimum training standards and producing skilled pilots for the airline industry, the Academy is making a concrete contribution to flight safety.
Total investment and EU funding
Total investment for the project “Aviation Academy” is EUR 1 652 500, of which the EU’s European Regional Development Fund is contributing EUR 1 210 533 from the Operational Programme “Burgenland” for the 2007 to 2013 programming period.
