A revamped and improved Digital Education Hackathon returns for its fourth edition between 6 and 13 November 2023, under the topic ‘People at the centre of digital education’. 

A flagship initiative of the Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027, Digital Education Hackathon focuses on the future of education in the digital age and engages educational institutions and other organisations in the education field (schools, higher education institutions, NGOs, innovation centres, research labs, public authorities, private sector and others) . Its objective is to identify key challenges in digital education and co-create solutions (technical and not) across disciplines and organisations.  

Local ands national organisations have used  Hackathons to follow-up and create Digital Education Action Plans after taking SELFIE. This has proven to be a successful strategy to bring schools together, analyse the outcomes of their SELFIE reports, and share ideas and solutions. By following this format,  schools feel supported and empowered and can start short or long-term collaboration. 

So far, there have been SELFIE hackathons in Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Ireland. For this reason, if you are organizing (or have organized) an initiative with several schools using SELFIE, you can consider doing a follow-up at the Digital Education Hackathon.
