This is a proposal to promote and recognise the use of digital technology to provide the best educational experience for secondary school students in Europe. They are linking the flourishing Digital Schools Awards initiative with the SELFIE tool and exploring how it can make a sustainable impact in schools in Europe. The pilot started in August 2020 and will run until March 2022.

During the session, which was moderated by Anna Doody, teachers from five schools shared their approaches to using the SELFIE tool for digital action planning and development:

  • Ireland – Dominican College Dublin (Lorraine McCool, Deputy Principal)
  • Lithuania – Technologies and Business School of Ukmergė (Jurgita Edlinskienė and Skaidrė Gaidamavičienė
  • Scotland – Royal High School of Edinburgh (Kate Fraser, Deputy Head Teacher)
  • Serbia – Branislav Nušić Primary School (Verica Arula and Zorana Djordjevic)
  • Slovenia – Brežice Grammar School (Polona Jančar)

Takeaways from the session are the importance of developing the school’s improvement plan and digital strategy in line with SELFIE findings and a valid regulatory framework, have a good team internally to drive the actions forward and work with other schools and organisations as centres of knowledge and for mentoring advice and support.

It was a great session in which many examples of good practices were shared. Watch the full webinar here.
