EU and Singapore open exploratory talks on association to Horizon Europe (23/04/2024)

The European Commission and the Singaporean Government launched exploratory discussions in view of Singapore’s possible association to Horizon Europe, the EU’s research and innovation programme. The two sides will now enter a series of technical discussions to look at the main parameters and principles of a future association agreement before deciding whether to engage in official negotiations.

Commission receives scientific advice on Artificial Intelligence uptake in research and innovation (15/04/2024)

Today, the Scientific Advice Mechanism (SAM) released its independent policy recommendations on how to facilitate the uptake of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in research and innovation across the EU. The advice is non-binding but may feed into the overall Commission strategy for AI in research and innovation. It is underpinned by an evidence review report published also today.

The EU-Australia Joint Science and Technology Cooperation Committee meeting that took place today in Brussels, was the occasion to reaffirm the commitment to science and technology cooperation while celebrating the 30th anniversary of the signature of the Agreement on Science and Technology Cooperation in 1994. Recognising the significance of fostering an environment characterised by freedom, independence, openness, reciprocity, and transparency, both sides confirmed their engagement in the Multilateral Dialogue on Principles and Values for Research and Innovation.

EU-India join forces to promote start-up collaboration on E-Vehicles Batteries under Trade and Technology Council (09/04/2024)

The European Union (EU) and India today launched expressions of interest for start-ups working in Electric Vehicles (EVs) Battery Recycling to participate in a matchmaking event. This initiative takes place under the India-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) announced by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi and Ms Ursula von der Leyen President of the European Commission, at their meeting in New Delhi in April 2022.

European Innovation Agenda on the move: Commission presents progress on actions supporting home-grown innovation (20/03/2024)

Less than two years after its launch, the New European Innovation Agenda (NEIA) is in full swing. According to a report published today by the Commission, 13 out of its 25 actions have been completed while another 12 are ongoing. This ambitious agenda aims at boosting deep tech innovation and untapping innovation potential in Europe through a variety of actions in five flagship areas and with a central role of the European Innovation Council (EIC), as well as the European Institute for Innovation and technology (EIT).

Today, the Commission published two Recommendation on a Code of Practice on industry-academia co-creation and on citizen engagement for knowledge valorisation. Both codes of practice provide guidance for researchers and innovators on how to actively engage with other players to jointly produce and valorise knowledge for the benefit of the economy and society.
