Following an insulation upgrade and the waterproofing of its terraces, the Nuestra Señora de la Piedad school in the town of Iznájar went from consuming 103 200 kWh to 30 446.3 kWh, according to authorities. This translates into annual cost savings of EUR 1 746.

Iznájar Mayor Lope Ruíz welcomed the results and said the goal of the project, and others like it, is to slow global warming and preserve the environment for future generations – including the children studying at the refurbished school.

ERDF funding covered 80 % of the EUR 348 328 budget for the project, which is also part of an effort to promote a low-carbon economy.
