The selected project comes from Hungary and will be implemented by K-Monitor. PartiMap will actively involve citizens in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the EU cohesion policy through an online tool adapted to the local Hungarian context. The tool will enable geo-based collection of ideas, opinions, needs and feedback that can be used in all phases of programming. The promoters of the project will cooperate with local municipalities and stakeholders for EU funded projects connected to sustainable urban mobility and renewal of urban spaces.

Sandor Lederer, director of K-Monitor, said:

"Participation and co-creation should be at the core of cohesion policy in order to ensure that investments are meaningful, funds are spent efficiently and citizens have a say in how their communities are developed."

The project was selected following an open call for expression of interest earlier this year. It is part of a broader action announced by the Commission at a High-Level Conference on the issue of Engaging Citizens for Good Governance in Cohesion Policy on 6 February 2020 to move one step forward in promoting citizens participation. In a complementary action, five national and regional programmes are receiving targeted support from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to improve their participatory processes.

Sandor Lederer also explained the main features of the project: “We will develop a participatory open source tool to support projects connected to sustainable urban mobility and the renewal of urban spaces in Hungary. The tool will allow the geo-based collection of ideas and feedback that can be used in all phases of a development program. The project will foster the cooperation between municipalities, citizens and local stakeholders to allow better planning, implementation and monitoring.”
