European Diversity Month reveals that inclusion policies will be the lever for sustainable economic growth

The official event, held in Málaga, brought together leaders from the world of business, the public sector, the media and sport, who see Andalusia as an opportunity to grow in innovation and diversity.

The fifth edition of the European Diversity Month in Spain, whose main event took place in Málaga, Andalusia, has concluded with a resounding message: a diverse workforce and inclusion policies will create stronger economies. The event, organized by Fundación Diversidad and the Representation of the European Commission in Spain, has brought together leaders from business, the public sector, media and sport to provide a platform for reflection on the transition to a more inclusive and sustainable future.

Andalusia, a centre for innovation and diversity

The different people who have participated in the event have highlighted that Andalusia is a center of innovation and diversity. They have recognized that there are opportunities in the region to take advantage of diversity as a competitive lever and trust in the cultural wealth and potential for innovation that it brings. In a panel moderated by Sergio Morante, journalist at Canal Sur, regional public TV, several institutions discussed about the contribution of cities and regions to promoting the creation of more inclusive societies. Both Andalusia and Antequera were chosen European Capitals of Inclusion and Diversity in 2022. This year the municipality of Casares, in Málaga province has won a bronze award in the European Capitals of Inclusion and Diversity Awards 2024 for the support to the LGTBIQ+ community.
