For the very first time, the European Commission provides over EUR 10 million for projects on European Remembrance, the biggest call ever launched by the EU on supporting projects dealing with memory. The Commission has expanded the priorities of the call to take into account current historical debates in Europe. Projects should contribute to these debates and reach a broad public.

The event will take place online via Webex and an upfront registration before 5 March is required. You can submit your questions beforehand when registering for the event or ask them during the session.

The four priorities are:

1.    Democratic transition, (re-)building and strengthening society based on the rule of law, democracy and fundamental rights
2.    Strengthening the remembrance of the Holocaust, genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity to reinforce democracy in the EU
3.    Migration, de-colonisation and multicultural European societies
4.    European integration and its defining achievements

Project proposals:
-    Must be submitted by a consortium (2 or more organisations);
-    Must be based on lump-sum funding;
-    Must request a minimum EU funding of EUR 50,000 (no maximum);
-    Can be national or transnational.

In 2022, the European Commission awarded 33 projects out of 142 applications with a total amount of EUR 8 million. Find out more about the specific projects we support here: Funding & tenders (europa.eu)
