Katharina von Schnurbein presents EU Strategy on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life to the international public while in New York

During her visit to the United States of America, European Commission Coordinator on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life, presented the EU Antisemitism strategy and the EU efforts to spearhead the global fight against antisemitism at several events and public discussions. They were organised by the United Nations, the U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism, American Jewish Committee, Park East Synagogue, Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organization, and the American Council on Germany.
She also held bilateral meetings with Vladimir Voronkov, Under Secretary General, United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, Rabbi Arthur Schneier, Senior Rabbi of New York City’s Park East Synagogue, Melissa Fleming, Under Secretary General, the Holocaust and the United Nations Outreach Programme, and Manager Tracey Petersen, CEO of Anti-Defamation League Jonathan Greenblatt, Dianne Lob, Chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organization, and Board members, and H.E. Amb. Gilad Erdan, Israeli Ambassador to UN.
During the American Jewish Committee (AJC) Global Forum and as part of the Max Fisher Annual Program moderated by Simone Rodan-Benzaquen, AJC Europe Managing Director, Katharina von Schnurbein discussed with U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism Deborah Lipstadt on 'Can Governments Win the Fight Against Antisemitism?'. At the invitation of Amb. Deborah Lipstadt, the special envoys from EU, UK, Israel, Latin America and the UN discussed ways to address antisemitism globally in times of increasing antisemitism, conspiracy and antisemitic propaganda.
The following day, at the occasion of the French EU Presidency, the General Consulate of France to New York together with Park East Synagogue held an event on 'Rising antisemitism - how does Europe address it?'. After presenting the EU Antisemitism Strategy, she joined the panel discussion alongside H.E. Miguel Moratinos, UN Alliance of Civilisations, Under Secretary-General Focal Point for Monitoring Antisemitism and Enhancing a Systemwide Response, Michael J. Driscoll, FBI Assistant Director in Charge of the New York Field Office, and Rabbi Arthur Schneier.
On the June 15, H.E. Miguel Moratinos, UN Focal point on monitoring antisemitism together with the EU Delegation to the EU hosted a briefing on combating antisemitism for Member States of the United Nations and civil society where Katharina von Schnurbein presented the efforts made so far by the EU and explored how to best cooperate with partner countries and in multilateral to effectively prevent and combat antisemitism in Europe and worldwide.
She met with future Jewish leaders of the World Jewish Congress to listen to their challenges and ideas to address antisemitism among other on campus, on the internet and in education. As an Alumna, she also discussed the issue of 'Antisemitism in Europe: Challenges and Solutions' with the American Council of Germany.
