Following the laudatory speech by Wolfgang Sobotka, President of the National Parliament of Austria, Ms. von Schnurbein said in her acceptance speech:

"Freedom of religion not only means to have, change or not to have a religion, but also to practice ones religion. If we don’t manage to create an environment in which Jews feel secure and can live their lives in line with their religious and cultural traditions, the European project will have failed."

The Award ceremony took place during the CER's 32nd General Convention, in Münich, in the presence of over 300 rabbis.

Katharina von Schnurbein also joined other experts in a panel discussion on 'Religious freedom in Europe on the brink?' and met bilaterally with Charlotte Knobloch, President of the Israelite Religious Community of Münich and Upper Bavaria.
