The calls for proposals for town-twinning, networks of towns, rights of the child and Data Protection Authorities are still open!

Don’t miss the deadlines!

date:  13/07/2021

1. Call for proposals for town-twinning (CERV-2021-CITIZENS-TOWN-TT) and networks of towns (CERV-2021-CITIZENS-TOWN-NT)

The aim of the call for town-twinning and networks of towns is to develop networks and cross-border exchanges that will help to fight against discrimination, promote equality, increase inclusion, ensure EU rights for all EU citizens as well as democratic participation in the EU through engaging with towns, municipalities, local or regional European authorities.

Projects of Town-Twinning should focus on supporting citizen’s meetings and short duration cooperation projects between towns, whereas Networks of Towns projects are aimed at long-term perspective and developing sustainable cooperation and networks of towns and municipalities.

Actions under this call in the previous Europe for citizens programme period (2014-2020) recorded an active participation of over 11 500 partners. The goal of this call is to foster the sense of EU belonging, mutual understanding and friendship between citizens through a grassroots approach as well as to improve information dissemination and awareness about EU citizenship and fundamental rights.

Deadline for submission:  26/08/21

 Town-Twinning: available budget 2,7 million

In particular, it is expected that 'Town-Twinning' projects reflect on a new narrative for Europe, citizen-oriented, equality promoting, forward-looking and constructive that would be more engaging for the younger generation in particular. The main priorities are to raise awareness about the richness of the cultural and linguistic environment in Europe and the importance of reinforcing the European integration process based on solidarity as well as to foster a sense of belonging to Europe by promoting the debate on the future of Europe and reflect on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the local communities.

Networks of Towns: available budget 4,2 million

Through 'Networks of Towns', the European Commission provides the opportunity for towns and municipalities to deepen and intensify their cooperation and debate in a long-term perspective, to develop sustainable networks and to outline their long-term vision for the future of European integration. While maintaining a bottom-up approach, specific focus is on inclusion of minorities, combating discrimination and racism, EU Charter on Fundamental Rights, and EU citizenship rights.

2. Call for proposals to protect and promote the rights of the child (CERV-2021-CHILD)

Available budget: 2.1 million

Deadline for submission: 07/09/21

This call aims to support the priorities of the new EU Strategy on the Rights of the Child as well as to address the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the wellbeing of children, particularly those in vulnerable conditions. The objective of the call is the establishment of adequate mechanisms supporting the gender and age specific needs of children and to mainstream children’s rights in responses to COVID-19, but also to any other emergency situation. This call encourages a direct collaboration with children in order to create inclusive and efficient practices.

In the previous Rights, Equality and Citizenship programme, 200 organisations were supported to protect and promote children’s rights in the EU.

3. Call for proposals limited/restricted to national Data Protection Authorities on reaching out to stakeholders in data protection legislation (CERV-2021-DATA)

Available budget: 1.85 million

Deadline for submission:  09/09/21

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) represents an important part of the area of justice and fundamental rights providing increased transparency, trust and empowerment of individuals in the use of technology and data processing. This call aims to support activities carried out by the national data protection authorities. The activities under this call include the development of practical guidance, trainings and tools facilitating the implementation of GDPR obligation by small and medium-sized enterprises and a general dissemination of information and awareness of data protection amongst the public.

During the previous funding period, projects awarded under this call received an average funding of 240 000 euro.
