The child friendly versions of the EU Strategy on the Rights of the Child
The child friendly versions of the strategy were prepared by the team lead by prof. Laura Lundy together with children. Children advised on the language, images and examples used in the leaflets. Colleagues from the Publication Office of the European Commission made sure the child friendly version is accessible for children with visual impairments and can be accessed using assistive devices and technology. The Strategy announces actions on meaningful child participation. The Commission will “develop and promote accessible, digitally inclusive and child friendly versions and formats of the Charter of Fundamental Rights and other key EU instruments” and will “develop and promote guidelines on the use of child friendly language in documents and in stakeholders’ events and meetings with child participants”. The child friendly versions of the strategy are only the beginning.
