4th Meeting of the Working Group on Combating Antisemitism

8 December 2020 - Vice-President for Promoting our European Way of Life, Margaritis Schinas, opened the 4th Meeting of the Working Group on combating antisemitism that focused on the development of national strategies against antisemitism, the practical use of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism, and fighting antisemitic prejudices as part of civic orientation measures. Vice-President Schinas underlined Europe’s determination to win the fight against antisemitism and highlighted the importance of the forthcoming EU Strategy on combating antisemitism to do so. The strategy will be adopted by the Commission in 2021. Vice-President for Values and Transparency, Věra Jourová, closed the event, pointing in particular to the urgent need in addressing COVID-19 related disinformation and antisemitic conspiracy ideologies.
