Diversity Charter Austria - the latest updates

As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we continue bringing in new signatories and organising interesting events for all our members.

date:  28/10/2020

1. Strategic updates

At this time we officially count 246 signatories and some interested companies. Since January 2020, we have 14 new signatories. We plan to continue with our strategy to invite and involve our members to new online events and projects.

2. Organizational updates(e.g. new resources, new partners etc.)

The Austrian Charta-Partnership between the Vienna Chamber of Commerce and the Austrian Chamber will be continued. The Viennese Chamber as a service institution is responsible about the existing and new signatories and events. The Austrian chamber is covering political interests and is the link to the EU-Charta where. The Austrian Chamber represents the Austrian Charter at EU-Charter Meetings in Europe.

3. Activities & Events  (e.g. publications, exchange visits and other events)

  • In 2021 signatories and premium-signatories will be invited to all Events equally. In the context of the “Charta-Business-Breakfast”, where our signatories can present their diversity activities and network with each other, we have to wait until it is possible again to take place in real meetings.
  • On the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of the Austrian Diversity Charter in the following 2 months we will present Best Practice examples and the diversity activities of our Signatories on our social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram and Youtube).
  • We have a new type of event called „Meet Diversity“:

In a interview setting we talk with partners and other institutions and organisations which deal with Diversity and Diversity management. On 19th Oct we started with one of our Partner Organisations, Pride Biz Austria. Our Cooperation Partners, the “Austrian Gay Professionals” and the “Queer Business Women” unified their associations to the new organisation named Pride Biz Austria. Pride Biz Austria is committed to lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender and intersex people in business and the world of work and acts as Austria's first point of contact for companies and politics.

In the future we want to include successful Entrepreneurs from the various diversity dimensions. The goal is to present Best Practices, create awareness and highlight the chances, benefits and potentials of a diverse society and economy.

  • „Vienese Economy talks Diversity” is an event format for entrepreneurs with a migration background:

The free workshops are held in 9 various languages (German, English, Bulgarian, Romanian, Turkish, polish, Spanish, Russian, Chinese). On average, we have 16 participants (minimum 10, maximum 40). Our experts present entrepreneurial issues like financial support for entrepreneurs, tax tips, online marketing and so on. Multipliers from the various ethnic economy communities assist our experts with specific translation problems and/or misunderstandings. Some of our signatories sometimes are involved as Multipliers or Experts. It´s also the case, that Multipliers and Experts are combined within the same person. On 19th October we held our Online-Workshop for some Entrepreneurs and much more founders with an Hungarian migration background about all the free services of the Viennese chamber of commerce. It was the last event from this series, in the future we will include the migrant entrepreneurs in existing events or we will create new type of events, either way they primarily will be held online.

  • We planed 5 Online-Workshops for domestic and care assistants in the following languages: Romanian, Slovakian, Hungarian, BCS (Bosnian, Croatian Serbian) and Polish tot he following relevant topics: Founding, Social Insurance and Taxes. The workshops will be held in November and December 2020.
  • The Viennese chamber newspaper “Viennese Economy”: The LGBT*-Confidant and our Accessibility-Confidants of The Viennese Chamber of Commerce will be presented in the weekly Chamber-Newspaper. We want to forward our topics and want to be more present. Last Month for example we published a article with helpful tips, which was focused on discriminating speech with the title “How you say that right”
  • Accessibility: The Viennese Chamber of Commerce supports the use of Assistant Dogs for entrepreneurs with disabilities. Therefore we have our regular Stickercampaign (« Assistant Dogs Welcome »). Additionally we continued to support Entrepreneurs and other Organisations with our expertise.
