7th anniversary of the Diversity Charter – new publication and the experts’ debate

The Diversity Charter has been present in Poland for 7 years. That’s when the Responsible Business Forum has began to popularize in Poland the diversity management subject within the framework of the European cooperation of the Diversity Charters Platform, supported by the European Commission.

Since 2012 several dozen of meetings, conferences and study visit took place and many publications concerning different aspects of diversity were published. The Charter was signed by 14 organisations then, today we have 250 employers of Signatories. Because of that on 14th February 2019 there comes out the publication of the Nieoczywiste Publishing House, concerning the diversity management in Poland. The Responsible Business Forum is a Patron of the book and 5 signatories have became the partners of the publication.

When the Diversity Charter appeared 7 years ago in Poland, the idea of building inclusive work places was still very little known, but it was supported by the public administration. It’s a very important aspect, as the European Commission emphasizes – the diversity management, although it begins with policies and HR procedures in the mature organisations, it serves the wider changes and bigger cooperation – Marzena Strzelczak, director of the Responsible Business Forum, responsible for the coordination of the Diversity Charter in Poland is stating.

Every year, the anniversary of the Diversity Charter’s inauguration in Poland is celebrated in a symbolic way. It’s the time of the previous years’ summary and the presentation of the new plans for the next months. There was a debate online prepared for this occasion, during which the experts of human rights and diversity management were talking about where we are today in the field of diversity management and beyond it. We pointed the exemples of activities which can inspire the other organisations, we reminded how the companies can and do support the changes in their surroundings and what they need to be effective.

The reason to debate was the premier of the publication „The visage of the diversity management” of the Nieoczywiste Publishing House, under the auspices of the Responsible Business Forum, edited by prof. Izabela Warwas, in cooperation with dr ab. Elwira Gross-Gołacka, dr hab. Ewa Mazur-Wierzbicka and mgr Barbara Sajkiewicz and the Deloitte’s experts.

The partners of publications are: Emitel, Henkel Polska, Nestlé Polska, Orange Polska, Skanska in Poland.

The next months of the Diversity Charter will concern the balance, wildly understood, and employees’ wellbeing.
