Tackling discrimination

date:  07/04/2017

Ahead of International Roma day on Saturday 8 April 2017, First Vice-President Frans Timmermans, and Commissioners Marianne Thyssen, Vĕra Jourová and Corina Creţu have made a statement.

In the statement, they stress that equal treatment and fundamental rights are the corner stones of the European Union. However, the 6 million Roma living in the EU are still being discriminated against and marginalised.

Hence, the Commissioners express their determination to continue to fight anti-gypsyism and to push for the full integration of Roma in all EU societies and countries.
